Click the link for more information.This Air-True Air-Hardening Regular Tolerance Precision Tolerance Ground Flat Stock (Gauge Stock) is made by Precision Marshall Steel Company. The steel type is AISI A-2 tool steel, annealed for easier machining. It is a fine grain, electric furnace air-hardening, 5% chrome tool steel. It is a superior quality steel which has excellent wear and abrasion resistant properties. Air-True is furnished with a fully spheroidized structure and is 100% free of decarb and other surface imperfections. It has exceptionally low inclusion levels.The standard nominal sizes are ground to a satin finish on four sides, free of decarburization, held to tight tolerances in dimensions and squareness, and ready for layout. Each piece is lightly coated with rust-preventive oil and individually packaged in a vapor-resistant envelope which has the size and steel type clearly marked. All ends are precisely cut and deburred to insure excellent yields and handling safety. Thicknesses 3/16" and up are cold-sawn, while lighter sections are sheared. At least one end is painted blue for easier identification of the steel type.The Thickness |T| tolerance is ±.001". The Width |W| tolerance is +.000/.005, when W > T and the profile is rectangular. When W=T the profile is square and the width tolerance is ±.001". The 18" Length |L| tolerance is +.125/.250". The 36" Length |L| tolerance is +.250/.500".The available thicknesses are 3/64 to 2 inches. The available widths are 3/16 to 12 inches.
