Bevel Head Punch/Quill Punch, Royal BH Decimal Inch, 2"-2.5" Long

1. Select a shank diameter |D| Range, a Length |L|, a Steel type, and a Quantity Discount in the menus above.
2. Enter your shank Diameter |D| to the nearest .001" in the text box. This number should be within the |D| Range that you selected.

This Royal BH bevel headed punch/quill punch has a 60 degree beveled head and a straight shank. It is made from your choice of either M2 high-speed steel heat-treated to 60-63 Rc, or O1 oil-hardening steel heat-treated to 58-60 Rc. We draw the heads back to a lower hardness on the O1 punches. Regardless of the steel type you choose, the shank diameter tolerance is +/-.0003 to within 3/8 of the head.

Some of the shank diameters are precision form-ground (after heat treat) to achieve a better finish and a +/-.0003 diameter tolerance that extends all the way up to the head. These punches are indicated by * in the |D| Range menu above. Any shank diameter range that is not marked * has the diameter ground before heat treat and the finish is burnished as a result. You may notice that the shank is slightly oversize (more than +.0003) within 3/8 of the head. This happens when we hot-forge the heads. But the oversize effect is not present on the * punches because any excess material near the head is removed by the precision form grinding.

The available decimal inch diameters are .020 to .500 in .001 increments. Please contact us if you need a diameter manufactured to a .0001" increment, or if you need us to make any alterations.
